WARRIORS - Written by Arthur Hill as guest

WARRIORS “To all my warriors fighting chronic illness or other demons.” I am writing to you as someone who knows what it is like to live every day with a chronic illness.

I know how hard it can be to cope with the pain, the fatigue, the uncertainty, and the stigma that comes with having a condition that is not visible to others. I know how frustrating it can be to deal with doctors, medications, insurance, and bureaucracy. I know how lonely it can feel to be misunderstood, isolated, or judged by people who do not understand what you are going through.

But I also know how rewarding it can be to live every day with a chronic illness. I know how much strength, courage, resilience, and wisdom you have gained from facing your challenges. I know how much you have learned to appreciate the small joys, the simple pleasures, and the precious moments of life. I know how much you have grown as a person, as a friend, as a family member, and as a human being.

You are not sick; you are living with a chronic illness. Your diagnosis does not define you; your character defines you. You are not a victim; you are a survivor. You are not alone; you are part of a community. You are not hopeless; you are hopeful. Some days are bad, but you must feel positive and keep moving forward.

Over thirteen years, I have learned to break the negatives into little pieces and conquer them individually. Some days, you feel like hell, but you keep smiling and joking, and when people ask how you are doing, you say good, how about you, reflecting the conversation away from yourself. You have a profound sense of humor and a positive outlook that inspires others.

You are a fantastic human, and I am proud to call you my friend and warrior. Your stories taught me much about life, love, and myself. You have shown me what it means to be brave, to be compassionate, to be grateful, and to be happy. You have given me hope, support, and encouragement.

You have made me laugh, cry, and smile. Thank you for being you. Thank you for sharing your stories. Thank you for letting me be part of your journey. You are a blessing to me and the world.

Sincerely, The Unknown Warrior,
