MONTGOMERY - FEBRUARY 15, 2024 - RTC Communications, a rural telecommunications company in Montgomery, Indiana, is proud to announce that David Redman, President of the Board of Directors, has been chosen to receive the 2023 James L. Bass Director Life Achievement Award from the NTCA-The Rural Broadband Association.

This Life Achievement Award winner is selected from a group of nominees and goes through a rigorous process of reviews and panels to ensure that the recipient is a person that embodies the values of the rural telecommunications industry and what it brings to rural America.

“The rural telecommunications industry is home to thousands of talented, generous and accomplished individuals and today I am delighted to recognize some of the very best,” said NTCA CEO Shirley Bloomfield. “The 2023 Excellence Award winners exemplify the values of dedication, service and innovation in their work and communities. The prestigious award was given to David on February 14, 2024, at the RTIME Conference that is held by the NTCA.  This conference is the annual meeting of thousands of directors and executives from telecommunication companies from around the U.S.  David has been a director with RTC Communications since 1995 and has been the President of the Board for many of those years.  RTC Communications has significantly expanded its operations in the Daviess, Martin, Lawrence, and Knox County areas with its true fiber-to-the-premise Intelecyn brand of high-speed broadband internet, as well as providing business class cloud-based phone systems.  Those present to witness the award ceremony included Board members Josh Bauer, Mary Jo Holsopple, Terry Street, and Rob Sullender, along with CEO Kirk Lehman, COO Randy Preston, and CRO Don Banowetz.

Among David’s many achievements, it was noted during his tenure that RTC Communications set in motion an aggressive growth plan, and it has achieved record-breaking gains, including deploying nearly 1,000 miles of fiber, increasing top-line revenue, increasing internet subscribers by 400% in the last five years and increasing the number of employees in the last 10 years. He also served on the NTCA Awards Committee for 10 years and the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) board for five years.

Kirk Lehman, CEO of RTC Communications, states, “We are honored to have a board leader like Dave. His whole-hearted love for community and providing the best-connected internet experience in southern rural Indiana goes without saying. His enthusiasm and future-focused mindset on expanding our fiber network footprint at the right price for our residents and businesses make him a true asset to RTC and our home. Congratulations, Dave, on a well-deserved award.”
