Firefighters Battle Gusty Winds in Wildland fire that threatened several structures

SILVERVILLE - MARCH 1, 2023 - Firefighters from Indian Creek, Perry and U.S. Forestry Service was dispatched to a wildland fire near Silverville on Wednesday afternoon.



The call reporting the fire came in around 2:30 pm with firefighters arriving to find the wind whipped blaze carrying the fire rapidly into junk vehicles, fire reached a barn with firefighters able to save it, and towards a mobile home that was not a residence.


The fire was on both sides of a driveway with the winds driving the fire in several directions. Firefighters using brush trucks, tankers, and the U.S. Forestry Service bringing several ATVs and leaf blowers to help get the fire under control.



At this time, it is not known what caused this fire, however Greene County REMC responded to the scene.







Firefighters was able get the fire contained with several acres consumed by the blaze.


At 4:30 pm firefighters from the Perry Township and Marshall Township Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to a wildland fire in the 900 block of Cobb Lane. There is no details on that fire at this time.
