"Today, I was honored to award the State Fire Marshal's Medal of Valor to Captain Siebott from the Ellettsville Fire Department. On February 18, 2024, an entrapment occurred due to a motor vehicle accident involving an overturned IMPD vehicle.

Despite being off-duty and in his car, Captain Matt Siebott demonstrated exceptional bravery and initiative by rushing to the aid of the trapped officer. He remained composed and took control of the scene, promptly calling for an AED, initiating chest compressions, attaching the AED, and inserting an OP airway to ensure the officer's airway remained open.

When the fire crew arrived, Captain Siebott continued to provide exceptional patient care while maintaining control of the scene. During the patient's transfer to the ambulance, it was discovered that the OP airway had played a crucial role in keeping the officer's airway open, as he was clenched, and suctioning around the OP airway proved challenging. The transporting paramedics acknowledged that the OP airway had played a vital role in saving the officer's life. Given Captain Siebott's commendable actions and unwavering dedication to saving lives, he is worthy of such recognition," said Indiana State Fire Marshal Stephen Jones.

" Thank you for saving my Daddy's life" according to those attended there was not a dry eye in the place.
