Complaint of drivers going around Stop Arms on School buses in Mitchell

MITCHELL - FEBRUARY 6, 2024 - During the Mitchell City Council meeting Monday night a resident expressed concerns that a vehicle drove through a stop arm on a school bus.

The unloading and loading from a school bus of students on streets, highways, and at school locations are the most dangerous.


Motorist are reminded to follow all traffic laws surrounding stop-arm violations. Anyone seeing an Stop - Arm violations are asked to get a vehicle description and license plate number and report it to the local law enforcement agency.

To be fair it stops every 50ft. I don’t know what happened to bus stops but the door to door service is irritating. It also cost more fuel.

I’m 40 years old and when I was a child and ever since, school buses stopped at the driveway or in front of the house of where each child lived/went to.
