Lawrence County issues burn ban

LAWRENCE COUNTY - NOVEMBER 10, 2023 - The Lawrence County Commissioners have issued a county wide burn ban.



This is due to dry and windy conditions throughout Southern Indiana. No open burning is allowed unless using a grill or burn pit.


Several wildland fires have broke out today in Lawrence and surrounding counties.


The U.S. Forestry Service a brush truck from Bedford Fire Department, along with extra fire crews of Bedford Fire Department was called to help keep a garage fire from spreading into a nearby woods. The garage fire was on 25th Street near H Street.


Fire crews used leaf blowers to create a fire line.



A large fire was reported on Log Creek Road near Unionville Road south of Paoli. The Paoli, Livonia, Southeast and Orange County District 1 Fire Departments responded to a large brush fire at around 2:00 pm Friday afternoon.


Lawrence County joins Washington County in a burn ban, despite the burn ban in Washington County some have ignored the burn ban, and poor weather conditions and decided to burn rubbish today.
