Republican Party seek to appoint candidates to Guthrie and Perry Township Offices

LAWRENCE COUNTY - JANUARY 25, 2023 - The Lawrence County Republican Central Committee is looking for and evaluating candidates to appoint to vacancies on county township boards.

There is a single vacancy on the Perry Township board, and a single vacancy on the Guthrie Township board. Interested candidates can reach out to the Lawrence County GOP at lawcogop@gmail.com. We will make the appointments on Friday, February 10th.

The Lawrence County Commissioners will meet on Tuesday at 10:00 am at the Lawrence County courthouse to get a update and status of the township offices.

No one ran for Guthrie Township offices in the 2022 Election. The budget for Guthrie Township was at $33,000 and fire protection was no longer a budgeted item since the Lawrence County Fire Territory was formed last year.

The Indiana State Legislature tried to eliminate several township boards in the 2018 Legislative Session. Bono and Guthrie Townships were the two townships planned to be eliminated in Lawrence County.
