Judge sentences another Mitchell man to the IDOC for Probation violations

BEDFORD – Lawrence Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline sentenced a Mitchell man to 850 days in the Indiana Department of Correction after many Probation violations.

Dustin Slate, 37, pleaded guilty to Unlawful Possession of Syringe, a Level 6 felony, as a part of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana. The plea agreement, negotiated by a Lawrence County Deputy Prosecutor in November of 2022, outlined that Slate will execute 910 days in the Indiana Department Corrections with credit for 26 days of served time, the remaining 884 days of the sentence suspended and 365 days of supervised probation. After failing three consecutive drug screens since the time of sentencing, the Honorable Judge Robert Cline sentenced him to serve the remaining 850 days of his sentence in the Indiana Department of Corrections with Recovery While Incarcerated recommendations.

“When individuals fail to follow the terms of probation while being given the opportunity to remain in the community, they know the consequences of their actions, and in this case, it is prison,” said Lawrence County Prosecutor Samuel C. Arp, II.
