Jackson County Emergency Personnel Respond To Water Rescue on State Road 256

JACKSON COUNTY - (February 18, 2022) - Jackson County emergency personnel responded to a water rescue in the 8000 block of State Road 256 this evening.




The incident came in just before 8:00 p.m. reporting two vehicles trapped in flood waters.

The local fire department used their vehicles to gain access to four victims who were trapped two separate vehicles in about knee-high flood waters.


No injuries were reported.


There were no barricades in place at the time of the incident. However, motorists are reminded never to drive through flood waters. Turn Around Do Not Drown is the easiest way to avoid becoming trapped.


Indiana Department of Transportation was contacted to put up barricades as water was covering the highway.

The Crothersville Police Department reports they have responded to several incidents involving vehicles trapped in flooded roadways.
