Honoring the Lawrence County 4-H Fair Seniors 2022

LAWRENCE COUNTY - JULY 11, 2022 - The Lawrence County Zephyr would like to congratulate this year's Seniors of the Lawrence County 4-H Fair.


Kenadi Bridges - Kenadi attended Mitchell High School and shows Horse, goats, and swine. Bridges has been a part of the 4-H for ten years and plans to attend Ball State University to major in elementary education. " 4-H has taught me so many things, I have learned responsibility, sportsmanship, and respect,"


My favorite 4-H memory was probably shaving cream fight at the end of 2019 fair. Everyone of all ages is involved and having so much fun with one another.

Carlee Kern - Attended Bedford -North Lawrence High School and projects include Cat Poster, Collections, Recycling and Crafts. Kern has been a part of 4-H for the last ten years and plans attending USI to study mechanical engineering.


4-H has taught Kern on how to be more comfortable speaking to people and getting out of her comfort zone. Kern's favorite memory include hanging out with friends through fair week and enjoying the time together. " 4-H has taught me to " stick with it and 4-H offers some of the best memories of your life.

Josie Young - Attended Bedford- North Lawrence High School and shows Dairy Cows. Young has been part of 4-H for the last ten years. Young plans to attend Ivy Tech Community College and the Indiana University Nursing program. 4-H has taught Young that meking memories is far more important than winning a shiny Trophy. Her favorite memory includes being elected Dairy Club president. " Don't be afraid to ask for help, you can't do everything by yourself, it takes a village," said Young.

Zoi Dayoff - Attended Bedford North Lawrence High School and shows Horse and Pony. Dayoff has been part of 4-H for the last ten years and plans to go into Cosmetology and Esthetician School. " I am very grateful for the many things I have learned from my 4-H family. These things include responsibility, time management skills, strength in teamwork, and how to have a strong work ethic. The horse and pony club has taught me to go outside of my comfort zone to try new things and meet new people", said Dayoff. Her favorite part of Lawrence County 4-H Fair is contesting night, and game day. Especially with the help of Tony Russell giving everyone a hard time, but everyone's biggest supporter. Advice given to future 4-H ers is make the most of 4-H because it goes by so quick.

Sarah Fletcher - Attended Mitchell High School and shows Horses, dogs, and goats, rabbit, needle craft, and other crafts. Fletcher has been a part of 4-H for the last ten years. She intends to go to Ivy Tech to earn a degree in Visual Communications. Being part of the 4-H program taught her responsibility and leadership skills. " I have enjoyed taking care of my animals during fair and being with my friend," said Fletcher. Her advice to future 4-Hers is to " Stay patient, and calm when showing animals. Remember it is not about winning but enjoying the experience of raising and caring for animals," said Fletcher.

Sanora Evans - Attended Bedford-North Lawrence High School who shows Horses, dogs, and goats. Evans was a part of 4-H for ten years. Evans plans to attend Midway University to major in Equine Rehabilitation. " Being part of 4-H has taught me responsibility, time management, and integrity with caring for my animals. I have learned to have compassion and positive communication with others," said Evans. Her favorite memory includes showing with friends and family each year. " Always keep a positive attitude with your animals. The animals are learning just as you are," said Evans

Kaia Atkinson - Homeschool attendee who shows Poultry, Arts/Crafts, Food preservation. Atkinson was a part of 4-H the last 9 years. Atkinson plans attending Tricoci School of Beauty to become a Cosmetologist.

Chandler Hayes - Attended Bedford-North Lawrence High School and shows Swine. Hayes has been a part of 4-H ten years. Being a ten year 4-H member Hayes will be leaving September 13th to join the United States Air Force. " I really do not have a favorite memory. I enjoy spending time with friends, eating at Libby's Ice Cream, attending the Auction, and just being a fair kid," said Hayes. In advice to future 4-Hers, " Be sure to thank your parents, and your leaders for all they do for you. Be sure to have fun, work hard, and just enjoy the 4-H experience because ten years goes so fast" Hayes added.

Clayton Wesner - Attended Bedford- North Lawrence High School showing Swine, Sheep, Beef cows. Wesener a 10 year 4-H Member is working toward being lineman and will continue to work on the family farm. Wesner has learned patience, hard work, and time management. Wesner won several awards which include Winning Grand Champion Gilt 2019, Winning Grand Champion Breeding Ewe 2020, Reserve Grand Champion Breeding Ewe 2021. " The memories will last longer than the ribbons and banners," said Wesner.

Ellee Brown - Attended Bedford - North Lawrence High School and was part of A Painting and is ten year member of the 4-H. Brown loved visiting with friends and 4-H taught Brown on just do your best.



Danny Cline - Attended Bedford- North Lawrence High School showing Boer and Goats. Cline a nine year 4-H member will be going to Purdue University to become a Biomedical Engineer. Being a part of 4-H has taught Cline to become responsible and taking care of animals. " Always take proper care of your animals and make sure they stay healthy," said Cline.



Mckaylin Turner - Attended Bedford -North Lawrence High School and enjoyed showing Cattle and Swine. Turner was a 10-year member of 4-H and will be attending nursing school at Ball State University. The three important skills Turner has learned include patience, hard-work and time management. Turner has won senior showmanship in cattle and winning the steer show. " Always work hard, and make a lot of friends it goes fast," said Turner.

Brayson Pruett - Attended Bedford - North Lawrence High School showing goats. Pruett was a ten-year member of the 4-H planning in joining the workforce as a diesel mechanic. Pruett enjoyed being part of the Goat Costume Party and encourage young people to join 4-H early as possible.

Makenna Shanks - Attended Bedford- North Lawrence High School showing Horses, goats, and rabbits. Shanks being part of the 4-H for four years, planning on attending Nursing school.

Braxton Porter - Attended Mitchell High School and was part of the Dairy Club. Porter is planning to apply to IBEW in Evansville this fall to take courses to become an electrician. Porter is hoping at land a job with General Motors. 4-H has taught him to never give up. "My favorite memory is competing with my friends and seeing my hard work during the summer come together,"

Alexanderia Brown - Attended Mitchell High School and is part of the Horse and Pony Club. She will be attending University of Indiana in the fall majoring in environmental science. " Do not give up even when its gets hard. You would rather be proud of your hard work and dedication than to be disappointed with your defeat," said Brown.

Avery Adams - Attended Bedford -North Lawrence High School who showed sheep. Adams has been a part of 4-H for ten-years and has not decided on a career choice yet. Adams enjoyed the trip to Gatlinburg, TN with the Junior Leaders.

Cora Brown - Attended Bedford North Lawrence High School showing Horses and Pigs being a part of 4-H for 10 years. Brown plans to attend Purdue University. " Do not be afraid to try new projects or classes," said Brown in encouraging future 4-H members.



Lillian Andis - Attended Bedford-North Lawrence High School showing Dairy Goats, being a part of 4-H for five years. Andis plans to be a veterinarian. Andis says 4-H has taught her perseverance. She enjoyed teaching other kids about goats and teaching them to show one on one. " Never give up," Andis tells those who are upcoming 4-H members.

Danica Ritchey - Attended Mitchell High School who shows Horses. Ritchey was a seven year 4-H member and plans to continue working with horses. Ritchey always enjoys the last night of the fair and horse camp. " Do not take things seriously, it is all about having fun," said Ritchey.

Trista Stigall - Attended Bedford - North Lawrence High School who shows sheep, goats, and works making stain glass windows. Stigall was a part of 4-H for Five years, attending USI to be a mechanical engineer. Stigall enjoyed making new friends. " Work hard, and it will pay off in the end," said Stigall.

Aubrey Wynn - Attended Bloomington High School South and is part of the Horse and Pony Club. Wynn have a part of 4-H for nine years. Wynn will be attending Indiana University to major in Environmental Science. I enjoy going on the rides at the fair with friends. " Work hard, it will always pay off," said Wynn
