Bloomington Man Arrested After Traffic Stop in Bedford

BEDFORD - MAY 24, 2023 - On May 23rd, around 7:00pm, Lawrence County Police Officer Brenten Trueblood conducted a traffic stop along Mitchell Road, near 32nd Street for a speeding violation.


During the course of the stop, Officer Trueblood observed that the driver, John Dotts (32 years old of Bloomington) was extremely nervous and displaying indicators of criminal activity.




Sgt. Michael Williams arrived and deployed his canine, Fleck, who gave a positive alert on the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed that Dotts was in possession of methamphetamine, legend drug pills with no prescription, and drug paraphernalia.

Dotts was arrested and incarcerated at the Lawrence County Jail.


During the book in process, Dotts was found to have a small container of synthetic urine concealed on his person as well. Dotts was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a legend drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of synthetic urine.


Officer Thomas Porter and Oolitic Deputy Marshal Ryan Duckett also assisted with the investigation.
