Bedford Redevelopment Commission's Purchase of the former Aldi's Building is Completed

BEDFORD - (March 14, 2022) - The Bedford Redevelopment Commission purchase of the former Aldi's building located at 2308 16th Street is completed. The RDC finalized the purchase of the building on March 8, 2022.

A wire transfer in the amount of $803,334.04 to Fidelity National Title Insurance Company on March 8, 2022. The RDC made a payment of $20,000 earlier last month to start the process of purchasing the building. There is also a tax liability of $2,022 that the city of Bedford will have to pay.


" We will provide monthly updates to the RDC on how remodeling of the building is going and will receive bids on the cost of the remodeling project," said Bedford Mayor Sam Craig.


" This is a huge benefit to the city, and benfecial to the Bedford Police Department with a state-of-the-art facility. We all are looking forward to getting this project completed," said Mayor Craig.


The total cost of the remodeling of the building is not yet realized at this time.


In other business:

  • Approved the payment of $3,060 for legal services rendered to Barnes & Thornburg for the expansion of the Consolidated Economic Development area that includes the former Aldi's building on West 16th Street.

  • Approved and accepted the contract of Baker Tilly for the management of the city's TIF district. Baker/Tilly has assumed the responsibility of overseeing the TIF district which was formerly handled by Crowe LLC. Currently, Baker/Tilly is charging an hourly rate for services. The cost for services from Crowe totaled just over $8,000, last year.
