BEDFORD - ( February 9, 2022) - A transformer for the Duke Energy substation in Bedford has arrived at its destination Wednesday afternoon.
The transformer was off loaded from a rail car in Mitchell, onto a semi- trailer from Edwards Moving Company on Monday. The transformer weighs approximately 450,000 lbs.
The semi- left Mitchell around noon making its way up State Road 37.
The stoplights and wires that spanned the streets and highways had to be lifted to let the transformer through.
The transformer then made its way down John Williams Blvd to arrive at the substation just after 4:00 p.m.
Police officers with the Indiana State Police and Bedford Police Department helping with the escort.
