OOLITIC - DECEMBER 28, 2023 - The Town of Oolitic has hired 812 Disposal LLC for trash disposal services for six months, at a cost of $3,000 a month in a special meeting Friday afternoon.

The town's trash truck went out of service on December 14,2023.
812 Disposal LLC will begin service January 1, 2024 - June 30,2024 with the first day of collection Thursday January 4, 2024.
812 Disposal was chosen over seven companies which include AVAS, Rumpke, Preferred Waste, Dependable Dave's, Republic, and Monster Trash.
The services for 440 - 470 households to be picked up on Thursdays of each week which is subject to change due to Holidays or inclement weather.
All garbage should be bagged and placed at the driveway/ curb of each residence the morning of pickup. It is preferred, not required, for bags to be placed in trash cans to limit access by animals. 812 Disposal LLC. will not be responsible for picking up loose trash scattered by animals . No brush, leaves, rocks, large items or hazardous materials will be accepted.
The money for the six month contract will be paid from the town's sanitation funds. According to town officials the fund has $93,000 to be able to pay the company for the service.
Town officials will looking into other options to address the situation.

" We are working on this issue, the cost of a trash truck is between $250,000- $325,000 we cannot afford to purchase a new truck at this time, but we are looking at several options. If 812 disposal does like us, or we don't like them we will try something else," said Jon Broglin town council member.
Residents are charged $10 a month for trash pick-up one of the lowest rates in the area for trash fees.
