TIME TO SPRING INTO ACTIVITIES WITH THE BEDFORD PARKS DEPARTMENT

BEDFORD - FEBRUARY 23, 2023 - Gary Dorsett shared some of the activities and fun that is getting ready to happen throughout the Bedford Parks Department.


Murray Forest Park Ball Diamonds


  • Father/Daughter Dance was sold out with 425 attending the event. Special thanks to Natalie Smith of Kore Photography and Clair Roub of Sound Sational DJ service and Magic Morning Bakery for their help in making the event a success.

  • Volleyball in its second session has started

  • Second Session of Pickleball has begun. There are 24 teams registered at this time which will begin on March 15th

Bedford Recreation Foundation and Bedford Parks Department announced their partnership in bringing a Permanant location for Pickleball. The Wilson Park will be a wonderful location to bring the new and growing sport to have a place to play. Plans are for six courts to be located at the Wilson Park location.


  • Square Dance lessons will start Monday March 6th. The cost is $36 for six-week sessions. This will be held at the Wilson Park Shelter House from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm For more information call 812-498-0001

  • Spring Art Camp - Tink's Fine Art will be hosting the event starting on March 21st through March 23rd. This is for ages K-4, 5-10 at Thornton Park Shelter the cost is $120 per child. Call the Bedford Parks Office for details and times.

  • Bedford Softball Association have 8 tournaments scheduled for this summer. This includes three series tournaments and two state tournaments. Season is scheduled to open on May 15th. Entry fees for Men's and Women's is $650 for a 10-game schedule and $25 for Church and Co-ed 8 game schedule. Registration is now open

  • Outdoor Series presentation - Walkin With Friends will be on February 28, at Otis Park at 6:00 pm this is free, and RSVP requested by calling the Park Office. The speaker will be Teena Ligman.
