BEDFORD - MAY 12 - Bedford Police Department has released details on this morning's shooting in the area of the Hauck House located in the 1300 block of K Street.
Bedford Police dispatch received a report of the shooting at 10:16 a.m. from a male victim at 1305 K Street stating he had been shot.

The victim described the suspect by name and Bedford Police officers arrived quickly on the scene. Officers were able to collect information and located the suspect Dustin Weldon 34, Shoals, Indiana within a block of the incident.
Weldon was taken into custody charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, battery with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, possession of a firearm without a license, and possession of meth and marijuana.

Weldon has a criminal history of drug possession, and burglary from Lawrence County Court filings.
The victim was transported to IU Health Hospital with a gunshot wound to his lower abdominal area.
