BEDFORD - SEPTEMBER 23, 2023 - A seven year old child who suffered severe head injuries has been airlifted to a trauma center following a traffic accident on U.S. 50 East near Back Creek Road Saturday afternoon.

The driver of the vehicle was traveling westbound on U.S. 50 East when he lost control.
The passenger vehicle flipped multiple times and slid on the roadway before coming to rest on the roadway.
The accident was reported at 3:45 pm. sending emergency crews from the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, Bedford Fire Department, Pleasant Run Township Volunteer Fire Department and two IU Lifeline Ambulances to the scene.
The child was taken by ambulance to the IU Health Bedford Hospital emergency department before being airlifted to the trauma center.
The driver of the vehicle refused to be transported to the hospital. The Lawrence County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate the crash.
