Orange County REMC installs more than 105 Miles of Fiber Optic Cable in Lawrence County

LAWRENCE COUNTY - JULY 27, 2023 - The Orange County REMC has stretched more than 105 miles of fiber optic cable in Lawrence County covering Bono, Marion and Spice Valley Township.



The cable passed by more than 1,378 homes with 735 homes taking advantage of the new service.


The company was able to hire additional employees from 30-40 employees with a total of 60 employees now hired.


The company was able to fulfil the obligations of the tax abatement awarded to the company with hoping to expand with Lawrence County Government help in doing so.


The Lawrence County Government will award approximately $4.4 Million in ARPA funds with expansion of fiber optic cable by Daviess/Martin REMC in Spice Valley Township, AT&T in northwestern part of Lawrence County in Perry Township, and Jackson County REMC has expanded in the Heltonville area and already appeared before the Lawrence County Council.


More funding is expected through the State of Indiana and federal grant programs to bring these services to rural areas across the state.
