MITCHELL - FEBRUARY 26, 2023 - On 02-24-2023 in the early morning hours, Mitchell Police officers along with Oolitic Town Marshal J. Harrington, conducted a traffic stop in the area of 37 and Doc Hamilton.
During the course of the traffic stop, Oolitic Town Marshal J. Harrington deployed his K9 “Denny” to which alerted for the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.
Upon conducting a probable cause search, Officers located 15 grams of a crystal like substance that field tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine. Officers also located 85 narcotic pills.
Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Jail where they both were charged with:
POSSESSION OF METH - Level 4 felony
POSSESSION OF A LEGEND DRUG- Level 6 felony
POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE - Class A misdemeanor
POSSESSION OF PARAPHERNALIA- Class C misdemeanor
