MITCHELL - AUGUST 13, 2022 - The Mitchell Police Department is investigating an accident shooting at the parking lot of Leather & Chrome 1200 block Main Street in Mitchell.
According to Mitchell Police Department a person looking to purchase a firearm was not familiar with it, and accidently shot themselves in the leg.
The injury was not life threatening however, the emergency personnel at the scene was waiting on a medical helicopter to transport the person to a trauma center for further treatment of their injuries.
The 911 call reporting the incident came in at 10:50 a.m. Saturday morning.
Mitchell Police, Mitchell Fire Departments, IU Lifeline Ambulance Service, and Seals Ambulance Service responded to the incident. The medical helicopter service was not known at the time of this story.
