Mitchell Man Sentenced to Prison for probation violations

LAWRENCE COUNTY - DECEMBER 14, 2023 – Lawrence Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline sentenced a Mitchell man to 798 days in the Indiana Department of Correction after violating probation.



Adam Shoults, 35, pleaded guilty to Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, a Level 6 felony, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident, a B Misdismeanor, as a part of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana.


The plea agreement, negotiated by a Lawrence County Deputy Prosecutor in November of 2023, outlined that Shoults will execute 910 days in the Indiana Department Corrections with credit for 112 days of served time, the remaining 798 days of the sentence suspended and 545 days of supervised probation.


After failing an alcohol screen 8 days after the time of sentencing Shoults the Honorable Judge Cline sentenced him to serve the remaining 798 days of his sentence in the Indiana Department of Corrections.

“When individuals fail to follow the terms of probation while being given the opportunity to remain in the community, they know the consequences of their actions, and in this case, it is prison,” said Lawrence County Prosecutor Samuel C. Arp, II.
