SEYMOUR - MARCH 26, 2023 -On March 24, 2023, at approximately 10:46 PM, the Seymour Police Department received a report of an unconscious person lying in the roadway in the 600 block of S. Vine St.

When Seymour Police Department arrived in the area, they located a male with no signs of life. Patrol officers began life saving measures until Jackson County EMS and the Seymour Fire Department arrived.
A very short time later, another 911 call came in where an individual stated they had been hit by a vehicle. It was determined that a father and daughter were crossing the street when they were both hit by a vehicle. The vehicle left the scene without stopping. The suspect vehicle is possibly a dark colored passenger car.
The father and daughter were both transported from the scene to Schenck Medical Center. The father was later pronounced dead. The daughter was treated for injuries to her face, hand, and leg. Investigators are withholding the names of the victims as the investigation is currently active.
