Man Arrested For Criminal Recklessness

SEYMOUR - ( January, 2, 2022) -

On January 1, 2022, at about 3:15 AM, patrol officers with the Seymour Police Department were in the area of On The Rox located at 214 S. Broadway St. when they were flagged down by an individual who stated that someone had shot out the back window of his taxi while it was parked at the location.


Patrol officers were directed to the West side of the building where individuals were pointing at the suspect.


The suspect at first attempted to hide from officers. Patrol officers were able to take the suspect into custody and retrieve a firearm from the suspect’s person.


Investigators with the Seymour Police Department were called to the location to process the scene and conduct interviews.


Investigators recovered spent shell casings and a bullet from the headliner inside the taxi.


According to witnesses, the suspect fired the gun on two occasions, one in the air, and one into the taxi.


The suspect was interviewed and denied knowing anything about the incident.


Christopher D. Bierly age 36 of Floyds Knobs, Indiana was arrested for criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon a level 5 felony and possession of a handgun without a permit a class A misdemeanor.


No one was hurt in the incident.


The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are possible.
