MARTIN COUNTY - JUNE 22, 2023 - On June 7, 2023, Sergeant Detective Brock Werne was contacted by the Martin County Department of Child Services about a four-month-old child that was taken to Riley’s Children's Hospital for bad burns. DCS told Sergeant Werne that the small child was at Riley’s Children's Hospital from June 2nd to June 7th. Sergeant Werne looked at the photographs of the child and spoke to Riley’s Children’s Hospital.
On June 8, 2023, Sergeant Werne and the Martin County DCS went to the residence belonging to Clint Sadler, the father of the four-month-old. Sadler told Sergeant Werne that his son was outside with his sister and received a sunburn after being outside for an hour. Sergeant Werne asked Sadler multiple times and Sadler told him the same story. Sergeant Werne left the residence and came back later to speak with Sadler again. After speaking with Sadler about the situation, Sadler advised Sergeant Werne that he was cooking on the stove and accidentally spilled boiling water on his son.
On 06/19/2023, an arrest warrant was issued for Sadler. Sergeant Werne and Master Trooper Jared Lents arrested Sadler at his place of employment without incident.
Arrested: Clint Sadler, 25, of Loogootee the charges include, 3 Counts, Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, Level 3 Felony
Arresting Officers: Indiana State Police Master Trooper Jared Lents and Sergeant Brock Werne, Assisting Agency: Loogootee City Police.
