Tourism Director Tonya Chastain reports an11 percent increase in inn keeper tax receipts from the year 2019.

With the expansion of Lehigh, trying to get a motel and hotel room is being quite challenging for those wanting to come and stay the night in Bedford.

However, with the opening of the Hampton Inn in Bedford there are 487 rooms available in Lawrence County now.

Chastain also reports that the Mitchell Persimmon Festival has made it way on the front cover of the Indiana Festival Guide this year.

The phones have already started ringing for vendors to be a part of this year's festivities.

The Holiday lights at the Spring Mill campground was a success with vehicles lined up all the way out to State Road 60.

The Craft Show will be held at Spring Mill State Park with the tourism center receiving inquiries on that event.

The ad campaign had over 37,000 clicks on its website with a target of 4.1 million people.

Chastain also reports this year, several renovations at the office will also be completed.

This will include landscaping with a stone piece donated to Lawrence County Tourism Office.

The piece will be in the shape of the State of Indiana which will offer a nice prop for a photo.

Several one-day events are being planned for 2022 due to the lack of motel accommodations but Lawrence County proves to be a wonderful place for Hoosiers and visitors to see.
