Lawrence County Independent Schools students busy with many activities

FAYETTEVILLE - MARCH 17, 2023 - Lawrence County Independent Schools will be busy will a variety of activities in the upcoming weeks and months.

The following activities are planned for the LCIS students:


  • STEM Day will be held on May 19th with Education One and facilitate an all day STEM event for the LCIS students. Each student in the K-5 classrooms were sent a book " Rosie Reever, Engineer last week with STEM activities to work on

  • Kindergarten Screening is March 30th - The current Kindergarten kids will have an e-learning day. Mrs H and Mrs. Hess will be sending the students home a package to complete.



  • Playground update: Mrs. Synmox will be met with Brian from Play Pros on March 15th. Play Pros will be providing the final details for what is required for the final setup for the the installation of the equipment on May 1st

  • Report cards will be emailed today. Call the office or contact the student's teacher if you would like a printed copy

  • Spring Break begins next week March 20th - March 24th

  • 1st annual Science Fair and Chili Dinner will be held on April 13th - Information was sent home last week. This event will keep the tradition of the Science and Chili Dinner being held at Fayetteville every year.

  • Goin Buhhy will performed on April 20th at 6:30 pm The show will be performed by the 1st and 2nd Grade students under the direction of Mrs. Fugate

  • LCIS Middle School students will be performing "Zoombies" the musical on May 4th. The cost is $4 at the door.

  • In Sports News, Springville Community Academy and Lawrence County Independent Schools are joining together to form a track team, an open parent meeting was held this week on the new offering.

  • Anyone wishing to coach next year, on any of the sports teams need to complete a Coach/Volunteer form. You can find the link in the Phoenix weekly or call the school office and the information will be made available by email.

  • Open enrollment will begin Monday April 3, 2023.

Upcoming important dates:

  • March 30, 3rd Grade and Life Skills Field Trip to Blue Springs Caverns

  • April 16th 6th Grade students will be going to Blue Springs Caverns

  • April 7 - Good Friday - No school

  • April 24th - April 28th - 3rd through 8th grade I Learn and I AM Testing

  • April 27th - 1st grade trip to the Indianpolis Zoo

  • April 27th - Kindergarten field trip to Avoca Park and Recreation of Marshall Township
