LAWRENCE COUNTY - JANUARY 3, 2023 - The Lawrence County Commissioners appointment for county attorney is on hold at this time.

Lawrence County Commissioners will be seeking higher compensation for county attorney, and health care is provided by the county. The Commissioners will make a formal request at the county council meeting on January 23rd this month.
David Smith has been a long serving attorney for the county, he also served as attorney for the county council in 2022, until former Lawrence County Council president Scott Smith did not renew his contract.
Katy Simon is now serving as attorney for the county council.

In addition, Dr. Kim Scherschel will serve as the Lawrence County Health Officer in 2024.
