The Lawrence County Republican Central Committee, with Party Chairman Heath Hawkins as Chairman of the Caucus, will be holding a caucus on Saturday, January 6th, 2024, to appoint a replacement to the vacated Lawrence County Auditor position, due to the resignation of Lawrence County Auditor Jessica Staggs.

Interested Republican candidates in good standing can file their Indiana form CEB-5 by Wednesday, January 3rd, with the Lawrence County Clerk at the Voter Registration Office, within the Courthouse Plaza, 918 16th St Suite 200, Bedford, IN 47421.

All Lawrence County Precinct Committee People are eligible and encouraged to vote in the Caucus.  If a Precinct Committee Person is unable to attend, the Vice Precinct Committee Person for their designated precinct can vote in their stead.  Time and Location details are listed below.

The news release did not say why Staggs has resigned. Staggs served as vice- chairman of the Lawrence County GOP and has resigned that position, she served as the Town of Oolitic Clerk- Treasurer before being elected as Lawrence County Auditor.
