Indiana State Police Investigate After Person Barricades Himself in Residence and sets house on fire

ORANGE COUNTY - APRIL 5, 2023 - The Indiana State Police has begun an investigation after a person barricaded themselves in a residence and set it on fire.


The incident took place in the 6700 block of Indiana State Road 60 East in Orange County. Indiana State Road 60 East is closed while firefighters and law enforcement work the incident.


Traffic is being rerouted onto a county road nearby.



More information on this incident will be released through the Indiana State Police Post Public Information Officer from the Jasper Post.


The several law enforcement officers from Orange County Sheriff's Department, Orleans, Indiana State Police, Campbellsburg, responded to the incident.

Firefighters from Orange County Rural District # 1, Orleans, Campbellsburg, and Livonia Volunteer Fire Departments was requested to stage in the area before approaching the scene about 20 minutes later.



EMS personnel from the Washington County EMS, and IU Lifeline EMS Orange County responded to the scene and to assist firefighters battling the fire. One firefighter evaluated at the scene as part of normal rehab for fire personnel.
