Updated: Firefighters Working a Storage Building Fire on Indiana State Road 54

SPRINGVILLE - APRIL 12, 2024 - Firefighters from Perry Township, Indian Creek, Lawrence County Fire Territory, Marshall Township and Oolitic Volunteer Fire Departments Lawrence County and Eastern Greene Fire Territory Greene County are working a fire at State Road 54 Storage.


The fire was reported just before 10:00 am with Perry Township and Marshall Township Volunteer Fire Departments dispatched to the scene.


Then other fire departments requested to bring tankers and manpower.


The cause of the fire is not known at this time but the owners of Storage Company knows which storage unit where the fire first began.

The location is near Greer Lane east of Springville, Indiana.


The Lawrence County Sheriffs Department is assisting with traffic control on the busy highway.


Indiana State Road 54 remains open to traffic.


There is no injuries reported at this time.


Firefighters are expected to be on scene throughout the day.


Indiana State Fire Marshal Office has been contacted to help determine cause and orgin of Friday morning fire.


Renters are not to immediately come to the fire scene to retrieve their property as firefighters are still working the fire scene.


As soon as the property is released back to the property owner then the renters can start trying to salvage their property.
