Updated: FIREFIGHTERS BATTLE CHRISTMAS EVE HOUSE FIRE ON TODD LANE

HELTONVILLE - DECEMBER 24, 2022 - Several fire departments are on the scene of a structure fire in the 800 block of Todd Lane. The home was owned by Rob and Jesse Corbin who also has three children.

The 911 call reporting the fire came in at 4:52 a.m. with firefighters from Pleasant Run Township, Shawswick Township. and Marshall Township reporting the house fire and couple of vehicles on fire.



The occupants from the home was able to make it out, of the home. However, some of the occupants were evaluated at IU Health hospital in Bedford.


There was a request for additional tanker were made around 5:15 from Indian Creek, Perry, Marion Township and Oolitiic Volunteer Fire Departments in Lawrence County and Owen Township in Jackson County were made.


" We had a difficult time of keeping fire hoses and nozzles from freezing. Over15,000 gallons of water were used to fight the fire. However, the fire hoses and nozzles kept freezing. Oolitic brought us additional hose lines and a nozzle to help us," said Darin Kiner Fire Chief Pleasant Run Volunteer Fire Department.


The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.



No other information is available at this time.


Lawrence County Sheriff's Department and IU Health is standing by at the scene.
