MITCHELL - AUGUST 27, 2023 - The Mitchell Police Department and Indiana State Fire Marshall's office is investigating a residential fire that broke out Sunday afternoon on South 11th Street.

A neighbor reported the fire at 4:20 pm sending fire fighters from Mitchell and Marion Township Volunteer Fire Departments to the 100 block of South 11th street.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the living room and an air conditioner from a bedroom.
IU Lifeline Ambulance Service stood by while firefighters brought the fire quickly under control.
While firefighters were on the scene of the residential fire, Marion Township and IU Lifeline Ambulance had to leave and respond to a motorcycle verses car accident on Indiana State Road 37 South at the Orange County line.
Fire crews were on the scene until 8:15 pm. No other information is available at this time.
