Fire rekindles at J Street Home Thursday night

BEDFORD - JANUARY 18, 2024 - Bedford firefighters returned to the residence in the 500 block of J Street Thursday night after the fire in the attic rekindled.


The call to return to the home came in around 10:15 pm.

Bedford firefighters from all three stations responded to find a fire and smoke conditions in the attic.

Attic fires are sometimes difficult to put out as hidden fires within the insulation are difficult to locate. In some cases, with cellulose fires can rekindle 30 days following a fire.


It is not known the type of insulation used in this home at this time.

The previous night firefighters removed several layers of insulation from the residence.


Firefighters had plenty of water and water pressure to fight this fire.


Bedford Utilities just repaired a water leak that caused water low water pressure at several locations throughout the city. There are no boil orders in effect for the City of Bedford.
