Drowning at Lake Monroe reported Saturday afternoon

LAKE MONROE - The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is investigating a drowning at Lake Monroe Saturday afternoon.

Details of the incident are not available. The drowning victim has been recovered from the lake and the name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the family.

The Monroe Fire Protection District, Monroe County Dive Team, IU Lifeline Ambulance, Monroe County Coroner Office, Indiana Department of Natural Resources are a few of the agencies responded to the incident.

The drowning was one of two incidents on Lake Monroe today. A sailboat also turned over today with all the occupants of that incident not injured.
