Driver Escapes Serious Injury After Falling Asleep at the Wheel

SPRINGVILLE - JULY 18, 2022 - A driver of a passenger vehicle escaped serious injury after falling asleep. The vehicle struck head-on with a dump truck and went over the embankment several feet away.


The accident happened on State Road 58 between U.S. Aggregates and Armstrong Station Road near Springville.




The call reporting the accident came in at 8:13 a.m.




According to the driver he was coming home from work and fell asleep at the wheel.



The driver of the passenger car and driver of the dump truck both refused medical treatment at the scene.



Bedford Fire Department, Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department, IU Lifeline Ambulance, and Lawrence County Sheriff's Department responded to the accident.
