Bedford Man Arrested on dealing Meth after ISP and Lawrence County Sheriff Dept find wanted man

JUDAH - JULY 25, 2023 - On Monday, July 24th at approximately 5:50pm, Sheriff Greg Day and Officer Kinsley Duncan conducted a traffic stop along Indiana State Road 37, near Washboard Road, after Sheriff Day and Indiana State Trooper Chance Humphrey had observed James Doyle (59 years old of Bedford) driving a vehicle northbound on Indiana State Road 37.

Officers were attempting to locate Doyle due to the fact he had an active warrant for Dealing Methamphetamine in Lawrence County. The warrant stemmed from a lengthy investigation conducted by the Indiana State Police with assistance from the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office.


During the traffic stop, while taking Doyle into custody for the warrant, officers located approximately 14 grams of methamphetamine in his pocket. Doyle was arrested for the warrant and a new offense of Possession of Methamphetamine Between 10 and 28 Grams (Level 4 Felony).


Indiana State Police Trooper Humphrey applied for, and was granted, a search warrant for Doyle's residence on Walnut Heights Road. Trooper Humphrey, along with Lawrence County officers Duncan, Robin Compton, Sgt. Michael Williams, and Sheriff Day executed the search warrant. Additional items of evidence were seized.

During the investigation, officers encountered Brittany Grissom (33 years old of Bedford) and discovered she was wanted on an active failure to appear warrant. Officer Duncan and Capt. Harrison Fleetwood arrested Grissom.
