250 PARTICIPATE IN 8TH BECKY'S PLACE 5K FAMILY FUN RUN/WALK THANKGIVING MORNING

BEDFORD - NOVEMBER 24, 2022 - Approximately 250 participated in Thanksgiving morning Becky's Place 5K Family Fun Run/Walk at the Depot in Bedford.

" We are excited to have such a great turn out for today's event. We had to go virtual last year due to COVID and we are glad the runners have returned," said Corina Hayes, Director Becky's Place.





The event brought runners/walkers of all ages, and physical abilities. Some of them being here for the very first time, and others who have benefited from the services provided by Becky's Place.

" This is my first time of doing this, I have stayed at Beck's Place, in which I stayed there from September to April. They really treat you like family, and respect," said Brenda Noyes who will be using her wheelchair through today's event.


Brenda Noyse took part in today's event and stayed in the facility for a short time


" This is my first event for Becky's Place, I thought this would be a lot of fun and I run cross country and track for Bedford North Lawrence, My PR is 22 minutes I am going to try for 21," said Clayton Schafer freshman BNLHS.



" There was nothing close to do on Thanksgiving and wanted to do this event today. This event is well organized and a great turnout," said Joanne Allee who is with her friend Marilyn Wessell. " This is my fourth event for Becky's Place, I really enjoy running and make sure I help Becky's Place. Becky's Place is doing awesome things for our community." said Marily Wessell.



" We are so thankful there are so many people who support Becky's Place. The next fundraiser is the Open House on December 6th at 6:00 p.m. and gives the public a chance to look inside our facility. The needs at Becky's Place are all year round and many ways can support the mission of by financial and personal contributions.



Becky's Place is designed to " provide shelter and create hope" for women and children who are experiencing homelessness and moving toward a life of self-sufficiency. Programs designed to help residents set and achieve goals, moving them toward education, employment and permanent housing.


Becky's Place offers meals, case management, support services, counseling, education resources, life skills and a compassionate, dedicated staff.
