Mitchell Woman Arrested for Battery on a Police Officer

BEDFORD - (January 4, 2022) -- A Mitchell woman was arrested on Friday, January 31, 2021, following a reported fight in the 1600 block of L Street in Bedford.


Lisha K. Ray 39, Mitchell and another male were considered to be the primary agitators of the disturbance. Police decided no charges were to be filed from the previous incident.


However, as police was getting ready to send the two on their way, police observed that Lisha was exchanging words to another female and Lisha got into the woman face and stated, " I'll go to jail over you" and then punched the woman in the head several times.


Bedford police officers attempted to place Lisha in hand cuffs, and she kept resisting arrest. While police tried to put her in the police car, she started twitching like she was having a seizure. A sternal rub by officers administered by officers got her attention immediately, Officers then attempted to try and put her in the police car, and she stand back out of the vehicle and refused to get inside.


Officers then had to forcibly put her into the police care where she begins to kick officer an officer in his chest and causing him pain.


Lisha was taken to IU Health Hospital Bedford and was medically cleared. She then was transported to the Lawrence County Jail on charges of Battery on a public official, resisting arrest by force, and disorderly conduct.
