Two Rescued From Flooded Waters In Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY - (December 31, 2021) - Emergency personnel from Jackson County rescued a woman and her small child after becoming trapped in flooded waters near Vallonia.

Brownstown Volunteer Fire Department used their Hoover Craft and other emergency personnel was able to access the vehicle by foot.

The incident occurred just after 1:30 p.m. with firefighters from Brownstown and Driftwood Twp., Jackson County Sheriff Department, Browntown Police, and Indiana Department of Natural Resources responding.


Jackson County EMS was evaluating the two at the scene. Does not appear to be serious injuries reported in this incident.


The rescue took about 17 minutes which was located on County Road 410 West near County Road 100 South.


The White River has been rising quickly and motorists are reminded not to drive through flooded waters.
