Two Bedford men arrested following vehicle pursuit in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY - SEPTEMBER 7, 2023 - On Wednesday morning, Sergeant Brian Wolfe of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, communicated to Deputy Marcus Ashby of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department to observe for a vehicle that was suspected to be stolen out of Lawrence County, IN.

Deputy Ashby attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle after observing identifiers on the vehicle that were consistent with the stolen vehicle.

The vehicle fled from Deputy Ashby and a pursuit ensued. Officers with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, Paoli Police Department, and the French Lick Police Department pursued the vehicle and the vehicle crashed into a field in the Northwest Township in Orange County.

During the pursuit the vehicle went into Lawrence County and Lawrence County Units provided assistance. Once the vehicle crashed, the driver of the vehicle resisted law enforcement where two TASER deployments occurred.

The driver was finally taken into custody and the passenger was taken into custody without incident. Multiple items of drug-related evidence were located inside of the vehicle. The driver had outstanding warrants out of Lawrence County.

  • Rodney Miller (29) – Bedford, IN -Theft over $750 but less than $50,000 -Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle -Resisting Law Enforcement by Forcibly Resisting -Possession of Methamphetamine over 5 grams -Possession of a Narcotic Drug -Possession of Marijuana -Criminal Recklessness -Criminal Mischief -Driving while Suspended-Prior

  • Samuel Bultman (29) – Bedford, IN -Possession of Methamphetamine over 5 Grams -Possession of a Narcotic Drug -Possession of Marijuana
