BEDFORD - NOVEMBER 17, 2022 - Two men were arrested following a fraud investigation conducted by the Bedford Police Department at the German American Bank in Bedford.
Bedford Police was contacted by the German American Bank on October 17, 2022, for a report of fraud.
Joshua Early, age 40 2406 G Street, Bedford and George S. Patton, age 31 280 Diamond Road, Heltonville, Indiana were both arrested for fraud and theft as result of the investigation.

On October 16, 2022, Joshua Early opened an account at the German American Bank. According to an employee of the German American Bank, Joshua Early, submitted a mobile deposit in the amount of $2,000 on October 14, 2022, which was marked as fraudulent after he withdrew the funds from his account. Joshua attempted to submit another mobile deposit in the amount of $2,000 but that the bank had stopped the check prior to it being deposited into his account.
According to court records has previously convictions of possession of syringe, resisting law enforcement, possession of marijuana, driving while suspended, visiting common nuisance, dating back as far as 2015.
George Patton II
The employee also advised that on October 22, 2022, George Patton opened an account at the bank. George submitted a mobile deposit in the amount of $2,000 on 10/14/2022 which was marked as fraudulent after George withdrew the funds from his account. Julie advised that George attempted to submit another mobile deposit in the amount of $2,000 but that the bank had stopped the check prior to it being deposited into his account.
According to court records Patton has prior conviction of for either theft or conversion, possession of methamphetamine, visiting a common nuisance, possession of syringe, unauthorized control of property of another, dating back to 2009.
According to the probable cause affidavit there were other people involved in the fraud and theft who all lived or previously lived at Transitions in Bedford.
