Two arrested following traffic stop in Bedford Tuesday

BEDFORD - MARCH 6, 2024 - On March 5th, around 5:30pm, Deputy Andrew Tillett conducted a traffic stop in Bedford after observing a vehicle operating with an expired license plate. One of the occupants identified himself by a false name and date of birth, but officers were quickly able to determine his identity and discover he was wanted on an active OWI warrant through Lawrence County.

As deputies took the male, Shane Kern (22 years old of Bedford) into custody, they located methamphetamine and hypodermic syringes on his person. A search of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine in both a compartment near the center console and on a container attached to the keyring.

The driver, Jacy Taylor (30 years old of Springville) was arrested. Upon arrival at the jail, Taylor was found to also be in possession of a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue and two syringes with methamphetamine loaded inside.


Kern was arrested on the warrant plus the additional offenses of providing a false identity statement, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of hypodermic syringes.


Taylor was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of hypodermic syringes. Deputy Robin Compton and Capt. Lonnie Johnson assisted with the stop and investigation.
