Texas Man Arrested After Causing Disturbance at Downtown Bar

BEDFORD - (January 31, 2022) -Bedford Police responded to the DaCar's 1005 16th Street after reports a man was causing a disturbance with a firearm on Saturday morning at 1:18 a.m.




Security told officers that two males were in an altercation inside the bar and both refusing to leave. The men got loud and was asked to leave the establishment.

The men identified as Jeyson Martinez, and Villa Bernando when security began to escort Jeyson out of the bar he slapped one of the security personnel hands twice.


Security then placed Jeyson in a head lock and continued to escort him out of the bar. While escorting him out of the bar, Villa Bernando pulled a gun out from under his bib overalls making it visible.


Security told Bernando that he needed to leave because the police was right down the road. Berando then secured the firearm and security followed him out of the building. Berando took off walking as police pulled up.


The firearm was located in front of the Courtroom Bar and Grill in a flowerpot. The gun a black and silver Smith and Wesson the firearm was loaded with a full magazine with a round chambered.

Berando was taken into custody and taken to Bedford Police station for questioning to which he stated nothing happened and there was no fight. Bernado did state that he did have a firearm while at the bar, but never displayed it. When asked why he took off Berando stated he knew he was in trouble.


Berando was arrested on the following charges, Intimidation with a deadly weapon, obstruction of justice, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and carrying a handgun without a license.



Berando was then transported to the Lawrence County Jail.
