T. G. Construction Awarded Contract for Remodel Project for Voter Registration

LAWRENCE COUNTY - (February 1, 2022) - During the Lawrence County Commissioners meeting this morning T.G. Construction was awarded a contract for remodeling project at the Voter Registration office in the Courthouse Plaza.

T. G. Construction submitted the lowest bid for the project at $22,703.00.

In other business:

  • Chad Shew requested permission to apply for Indiana Department of Corrections Juvenile Grant in the amount of $57,226 which is an increase of $25,000 for juvenile services.

  • Billie Tumey Contract for MicroVote was approved which is a $13,000 a year agreement


Sheriff Mike Branham gave the commissioners a report on the jail which the jail is at 75 percent capacity as of this morning.

For the month of January average number of inmates totaled 142, with the length of stay of 44 days.

One inmate was admitted to the hospital for 10 days and was transported to an Indianapolis Hospital. A medical bill of $38,000 was incurred as well as deputies were responsible for security of the inmate.

The refrigerator was replaced for a cost of $1,900, however the low cost of the refrigerator maybe due to it being damaged.


The sheriff also thanked everyone for the texts, messages, and emails while his father was in the hospital. Lawrence County Commissioner Wally Branham was in the hospital for a heart bypass surgery and maybe able to at the next commissioners meeting.

Lawrence County Veterans Officer Brad Bough told the commissioners about various license plates that are available to veterans including the Armed Forces Expeditionary Plate that is now available.

Bough also stated widows of Purple Heart Veterans are also able to obtain the plate in memory of their spouses. Bough says his office will assist any disabled veteran and those needing assistance on how to obtain those plates. For more information call the Lawrence County Veterans office at
