STUDENT WITH GUN AT LINCOLN ELEMENTARY - BEDFORD POLICE REPSONDS QUICKLY

BEDFORD - NOVEMBER 28, 2022 - A student with a BB gun initiated a police response and lock down at the Lincoln Elementary School early this morning.



Reports the student had a gun in his pocket and was in the restroom on the other side of the building.


North Lawrence Community Schools released the following statement to Lawrence County Zephyr.


"This morning at Lincoln Elementary it was reported that a student had a gun in their possession. The administration quickly notified the authorities and placed the school on lockdown.


The Bedford Police Department responded quickly to the call from the Administration and recovered a BB gun from a student. The student was turned over to the authorities and the parents have been contacted.


We appreciate the quick response taken by Lincoln Elementary and the Bedford

Police Department to quickly address the situation. It was determined by the Bedford Police Department and Lincoln Elementary Administration that the protocol for a lockdown was no longer needed.,"


No other details were provided by Bedford Police Department or North Lawrence Community School Corporation.
