State Road 37 On-Ramp is Re-opened Following Semi-Rollover on Bedford's Southside

BEDFORD - JUNE 30, 2022 - Indiana State Road 37 is re-opened following a Semi-Rollover at the on-ramp at Bedford City Limits to Mitchell Road.



The call reporting the accident came in just before 2:00 p.m.


The highway was closed for several hours while recovery crews worked to upright the semi. Blands and Jackson's Heavy Haul worked together to get the semi up righted and towed away. The roadway was opened just before midnight.



According to sources to Lawrence County Zephyr the Air Braking System failed and the brakes locked up. The load shifted and there were approximately 43,000 to 45,0000 lbs. of cast iron of semi drums and hubs, causing the semi to overturn.



Witnesses told the Lawrence County Zephyr that the driver of the semi was uninjured and up walking around following the accident.



Bedford Police and Bedford Fire Department, along with Blands and Jackson Heavy Haul wrecker services responded to the incident.
