Smokin Tires at Smokin Jim's in Bedford over the Memorial Day weekend

BEDFORD - MAY 26, 2023 - This Friday night the 812 Blackout organized another fun filled evening in Bedford of burning tires at Smokin Jim's Restraunt located on Bundy Lane in Bedford.

Several hundred people turned out for the event over the Memorial Day weekend to meet friends and who had the best burnouts.

The burnouts happen on the parking lot of Smokin Jim's who have been a supporter of the local youth.

Lawrence County have been plagued with an ongoing drug problem with very few opportunities for youth to gather except for sporting events and the once-a-year Limestone Heritage Festival a week prior to the Fourth of July weekend.

The bar scene for the particular age group has not been appealing to the local youth either.

The group congregates on the Dunham's Sporting Goods parking lot prior to the event to take pictures and talk to one another.

There was no law enforcement located on Bundy Lane for this event over the Memorial Day Holiday. Most of the ISP are in Indianapolis covering the INDY 500.

Previously, The Indiana State Police did not want any vehicles parked on the state-owned property, the last time an event was held.
