Smoke Detectors alert residents of early morning fire on Kings Ridge Road Thursday morning

HURON - JANUARY 18, 2024 - Smoke detectors alerted residents of a early house fire at 694 Kings Ridge Road Thursday morning. Smoke detectors are credited for everyone getting out uninjured.


The home was owned by James and Judith King. The call reporting the fire came in at 2:01 am. Marion Township was alerted to two additional EMS calls within minutes one another during this call.


Firefighters from Marion Township Statins 2 and 5, Indian Creek Township, and Shawswick Township Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire.


No one was injured in the fire.

" The fire was confined to the room of origin with smoke damage throughout the whole residence. The home suffered moderate damage. The fire displaced the occupants who are now staying with family after the fire," said Paul Gilespie Fire Chief Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department.


Fire Chief Gilespie believe the cause of fire was electrical in nature, however the fire is still under investigation.


IU Lifeline Ambulance stood-by at the scene. The Huron and Marion Township Volunteer Fire Departments merged together January 1, 2024.
