Six Lawrence County Fire Departments Receive SAFER Grant

LAWRENCE COUNTY - (December 3, 2021) - Five Lawrence County Fire Departments received an early Christmas present when they received a $394,768.18 grant.
The Marshall Township Volunteer Fire Department hosted a Regional FEMA SAFER grant in August 2021 that was selected for award.
The six departments submitted a request for 58 new self-contained breathing apparatus, 58 new air-masks, 116 new air bottles, 15 new Automated External Defibrillators, and 15 personalized thermal imaging cameras.
The equipment was divided among the six departments which include Marshall, Indian Creek, Marion, Oolitic, Perry and Shawswick Volunteer Fire Departments.
The departments collectively had to provide a match of $39,476,82 to receive the grant funds. The Lawrence County Community Foundation assisted the departments by helping raise a portion of the local match.
