Seymour Police Investigating Incident After Man was Shot Monday

SEYMOUR - AUGUST 1, 2022 - On August 1, 2022, at approximately 8:07 PM, patrol officers with the Seymour Police Department responded to the area of 950 E. Oak St. in reference to an individual who had been shot in the chest and immediately left the scene.



Shortly after, patrol officers learned that the individual who was shot, had been at Schneck Medical Center but left the location. Patrol officers located the individual in the area of Brown St. and Chestnut St. The injured individual who was uncooperative with officers, was later transported to Columbus Regional Hospital by family members for treatment. The injured individual ultimately became uncooperative at Columbus Regional and left against medical advice.


Investigators were called to the scene and began collecting evidence and interviewing numerous individuals. Currently, this is an active investigation. Investigators are working closely with the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office and no determination as to any criminality has been made regarding the incident.
